Libraries used to collect books and other publications in accordance with something like the Waters principle It was called Just In Case collection development. Depending on the needs of your library's constituencies, it might be prudent to acquire materials for long-term retention in anticipation of heightened demand over the years.

The marvelous thing about even unlistened-to LPs is their material, tactile aspect, including the cover art and liner notes.

"lam yao" (mistakenly translated by google as "long boat") is the stylistic marker (type of 'lam') preceding the title, so shouldn't really be translated as part of the song title.. additionally, google has misread น้ำใจ (kindness) as นำใจ (lead the heart), so a better translation would be "kindness of man"

I buy CDs still, so I can see that any imports are going to be more expensive (looking at you, ECM!). But does anyone know what the effect will be on electronic media? If Gary buys music from Vietnam in MP3 form, will he (or the importer) have to pay an 85% tax on it?
  8:18pm
pot8o (on public computer):

↳ Listener Gregory @8:14
it depends on the website, if the website is us based (like bandcamp), then no tariff

if it it's a foreign website, then yes, there will be a tariff
  8:21pm
Listener Gregory:

@pot8to, you don’t think Bandcamp will have to pay a tariff for transmitting this foreign music? Why do they get off the hook, as opposed to physical retailer?
You could well be right, but the treatment of electronic properties seems complicated to me.

Listener Gregory:

@chresti, I use personal courier for all my purchases.
  8:30pm
Listener Gregory:

If I buy a new Honda, I’m getting it from a local, US dealer. So I don’t pay a tariff. But THEY or their distributor had to pay one when they imported the car. So I will pay extra to cover their expense. I wonder if the same logic applies to Bandcamp, etc.
